Random Thoughts from a Soon to be Marathoner
5 Days!!!
It still hasn’t hit me that I’ll be doing this for 4 plus hours on Sunday.

I’m hoping I look a little better in the race photos though
I expected the week before my race to be full of emotion, excitement, and pre-race jitters. But so far, it hasn’t really happend yet. It might have something to do with the fact that I have a work to-do list the size of the bowl of pasta I’ll be consuming on Saturday night, but honestly, I haven’t thought about it much over the past few days. Instead, I’m considering this weekend as a trip to Florida in which one of the planned activities involves me starting to run and not stopping for a very long period of time.
I’m sure it will hit me eventually. I actually had one moment earlier this week during an easy run on the treadmill when I had a sudden flood of emotions and an “OMG I’m actually going to do this” epiphany. But it passed quickly and was replaced by “OMG the treadmill is so boring, is winter over yet?” Oh well, still counts for something right?
Still, I’m looking forward to tomorrow night after I demolish my to-do list (testing the power of positive thinking here). Then I can focus complete attention on packing, travel details, and picking out a race outfit. And then maybe I’ll have time to wrap my head around the fact that I’m about to accomplish one of the biggest goals of my adult life.
I’ll tell you one thing, tapering is boring! I ran 8 miles in the best weather we’ve had all winter this past weekend and sooo wanted to go for more. Luckily it looks like the race coordinators scheduled some perfect weather for Sunday. Thanks guys- maybe I’ll forgive you for that hill at mile 25. (Emphasis on the maybe)
Oh and Fundraising Update: I surpassed my goal of raising $1,000 for the Mayo Clinic and the Donna Foundation! Thanks to everyone who donated. It means so much to have your help and support!
Sorry for the totally random post but I’m running on a low supply of brain power here. I’m planning on at least one more post before I leave though so hopefully you’ll have something to distract you from work by Friday afternoon.
